Wellbeing

At Ropes Crossing Public School, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.

How we support student wellbeing

Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.

PBL/PAX

At Ropes Crossing Public School we implement a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) framework to consistently deliver and implement behaviour expectations to students, teachers and our community. Our four core values are Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Excellent Learners.

Our PAX (Good Behaviour Game) is implemented alongside our PBL framework. PAX means peace, productivity, health and happiness, and is what the PAX Good Behaviour Game helps create and strengthen in each classroom. PAX GBG consists of proven behavioural strategies used daily by teachers with students. The 10 evidence-based and trauma-informed strategies build self-regulation in children, strengthen peer networks, reduce impulsivity and teach prosocial decision-making in children. The ‘peaceful’ classroom environment supports learning, wellbeing, participation and confidence.

Play Based Learning- Kindergarten

In our kindergarten program, we incorporate Play Based Learning as a fundamental approach to support children’s development across all learning areas. This method encourages inquiry, creativity, and social interaction through hands-on, child-initiated activities that are both meaningful and engaging. By providing a rich and stimulating environment with a variety of materials and resources, we allow children to explore, experiment, and solve problems at their own pace. Our educators thoughtfully observe and extend children’s play to foster language, cognitive, physical, and emotional skills, ensuring a holistic learning experience that builds a strong foundation for future schooling.

Breakfast Club

Our school’s Breakfast Club runs every Wednesday morning from 8:30 am and is open to anyone who would like some breakfast. The club serves toast and cereal, offering students a warm and welcoming start to their day. Dedicated teachers volunteer their time each week to organise and run the Breakfast Club, helping to support the wellbeing of all students in our school community.
